Uztextileprom and China's Adsale held talks on textile technology and business cooperation, the association reported.
Technologies presented included functional and composite fabrics, eco-friendly processes, smart manufacturing, and injection moulding for textile accessories.
CHINAPLAS 2027 runs in Shenzhen on 13-16 April 2027; Uzbek textile enterprises may attend and hold B2B meetings with Chinese companies.
Uzbekistan's textile industry association Uztextileprom has held talks with Chinese exhibition organiser Adsale on expanding technological and business cooperation in the textile sector, the association reported.
The meeting, held in Tashkent, focused on technology transfer rather than trade volumes. Adsale representatives presented a portfolio of solutions aimed at textile manufacturing: functional and composite fabrics, environmentally friendly production technologies, smart manufacturing systems, and injection moulding equipment for textile accessories.
For Uzbek spinners, weavers and garment makers, the smart manufacturing and accessory-production technologies address two persistent constraints: limited automation in mid-tier plants and dependence on imported trims and components. Functional and composite fabric capabilities point toward higher-value product categories that Uzbek producers have so far developed only selectively.
The talks gave particular attention to CHINAPLAS 2027, the international plastics and rubber exhibition scheduled to run in Shenzhen, China, on 13–16 April 2027. The two sides discussed inviting representatives of Uzbek textile enterprises to the fair and organising their participation.
According to Uztextileprom, Uzbek companies attending the exhibition would be able to review current technological developments and hold B2B meetings with Chinese companies. The association framed the contacts as a way to establish new business ties and broaden cooperation between the two countries' textile industries.
The involvement of CHINAPLAS — a show anchored in plastics processing rather than textiles proper — signals where Uztextileprom sees adjacent opportunity: technical textiles, composite materials and synthetic fibre applications, all segments where machinery and materials expertise overlaps with the plastics industry. Injection moulding for textile accessories sits squarely in that overlap.
What the association has announced so far is an intention to participate, not a confirmed delegation. No numbers were disclosed: no headcount of participating enterprises, no budget for attendance, and no signed agreements on technology purchases or joint ventures. The commitments remain at the level of exploratory discussions between the association and the exhibition organiser, as reported by Uztextileprom itself.
For sourcing executives, the significance is geographic. Uzbekistan has built its textile export position on cotton fibre, yarn and, increasingly, finished garments, with China serving as both a major supplier of textile machinery and a key trading partner. Deeper access to Chinese equipment vendors through structured B2B channels could accelerate the upgrade cycle at Uzbek mills — a factor buyers weighing Central Asian capacity against Asian alternatives will watch.
The decision the news forces on Uzbek textile enterprises is whether to commit resources to the Shenzhen fair 18 months out, and which production bottlenecks — automation, accessory supply, fabric functionality — they prioritise addressing there. For buyers sourcing from the region, the question is whether supplier investments in these technology categories translate into capability upgrades worth qualifying.
