Yarn Expo Spring will return to Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Center from 10–12 March 2027, organisers Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd confirmed on 6 October 2026, building on a March 2026 edition that drew 600-plus exhibitors from 12 countries and regions and more than 25,000 visitors from 113.
Those figures stand as the strongest turnout on record for the yarn and fibre trade show, reinforcing Shanghai's role in the Asia-Pacific sourcing circuit. Wilmet Shea, general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, framed the previous edition as a gauge of buyer direction.
"In a changing economic landscape, last year's record participation showed how important it is for the yarn and fibre industry to meet in Shanghai, exchange ideas and understand what the market needs next," Shea said.
Where does the global yarn, fibre market stand?
Organisers project the worldwide yarn, fibre and thread market will reach USD 182.7 billion by 2032, with Asia-Pacific supplying the bulk of spinning, filament and downstream textile production. China retains integrated fibre, yarn, textile and equipment segments — a base organisers flagged as Shanghai's structural advantage over competing venues.
That scale reshapes what sourcing teams look for on the show floor. Recycled and bio-based inputs, traceability mechanisms and safer processing now share billing with performance attributes, organisers said. Specialty categories such as glass fibre yarns are drawing fresh interest on strength, thermal behaviour and processing criteria.
What zones will buyers navigate at Yarn Expo Spring 2027?
The 2027 edition will run eight product zones alongside an international section:
- Cashmere Yarn
- Cotton Yarn
- Chemical Fibre
- Fancy Yarn
- Linen Yarn
- Silk Yarn
- Wool Yarn
- Digital Solution Zone
Past exhibitors include Better International, Circ Inc, Everest Textile and Toray Industries, several of whom reported order activity at the 2026 show. The India Pavilion returned to March 2026 with Spinfab Spinners among its roster.
"We engaged with a remarkably diverse range of customers – from luxury European suit makers seeking our aesthetically stunning, long-lasting yarns, to mass-market fashion buyers from Southeast Asia impressed by how our cutting-edge technology ensures consistency at scale," said Raj Bhimani, sales manager at Spinfab Spinners.
Which shows share the Shanghai week?
Yarn Expo Spring will share the NECC calendar with four co-located events:
- Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition
- Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition
- CHIC
- PH Value
The line-up clusters yarn, fabric, garment and knitwear sourcing in a single Shanghai week — a configuration Messe Frankfurt and co-organiser the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT retained from 2026.
What fringe programme accompanies the show floor?
Organisers scheduled four tracks:
- China Yarns Fashion Trends
- Tongkun · China Fibre Fashion Trend 2027/2028
- New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities
- Selected Enterprise Product Launch sessions
The programme pulls material trends, product applications and R&D pipelines into a single buying-cycle window. Organisers position the agenda as a bridge between laboratory output and retail-grade sourcing decisions.
The sourcing decision: with Asia-Pacific's share of spinning and filament output anchoring a USD 182.7 billion addressable market by 2032, yarn-buying teams will book Shanghai for 10–12 March 2027 to vet recycled-content claims, trace certifications and benchmark specialty fibres against the previous edition's record vendor base.
