  1. ShinWon has rolled out SPHERE, a unified ERP platform built on SAP S/4HANA, replacing spreadsheets and siloed applications.

  2. SPHERE integrates PLM, SRM, MES, e-Accounting and SAP Analytics Cloud across order management, production, logistics and settlement.

  3. ShinWon previously established a dedicated AI organisation and deployed ChatGPT Enterprise.

  4. The company is developing an in-house AI demand forecasting system using sales data from major retailers.

  5. ShinWon is evaluating AI automation of export declaration preparation and verification.

Korean apparel manufacturer ShinWon has gone live with SPHERE, a unified ERP platform built on SAP S/4HANA, replacing the spreadsheets, emails and siloed applications that previously carried its core operational data.

The company announced the rollout as the centrepiece of a broader AI transformation programme. SPHERE consolidates Product Lifecycle Management (the system tracking a garment from design through development), Supplier Relationship Management, Manufacturing Execution System, e-Accounting and SAP Analytics Cloud into a single framework covering order management, product development, costing, procurement, production, logistics, shipment and financial settlement.

What changes for the supply chain tier?

For a supplier working across headquarters and overseas factories, the practical shift is standardisation. ShinWon says integrating operations and data standards across its Seoul base and overseas manufacturing sites will standardise global processes, with particular gains in consistency and data accessibility at the product level.

The unified system enables more systematic management of individual styles' bills of materials — the component and materials list per garment — and their production processes. SPHERE also merges manufacturing execution with ERP capabilities, which ShinWon says improves management of production status and cost information, and speeds up identification and resolution of production issues on the factory floor.

On the analytics side, SAP Analytics Cloud now gives ShinWon an operating model for analysing orders, production and cost data across subsidiaries, clients and product lines. The company expects more comprehensive, data-driven profitability analysis by product and by buyer — the kind of visibility that typically reshapes which customer accounts and styles a manufacturer prioritises.

How does SPHERE feed the AI strategy?

The ERP deployment builds on earlier moves: ShinWon has already set up a dedicated AI organisation and deployed ChatGPT Enterprise across the business. The company is expanding AI into task automation and data analytics, with SPHERE providing the standardised data foundation future AI systems will plug into.

The next phase is concrete. ShinWon is developing an in-house AI-powered demand forecasting system using sales data from major retailers, and is evaluating additional variables — weather data, regional factors and promotional periods — to sharpen forecast accuracy.

It is also assessing AI automation of export declaration preparation and verification, a compliance-heavy task where standardised ERP data is the prerequisite.

CEO JJ Park said: "Through SPHERE, we have established a unified framework that connects our business operations and data, laying the foundation for AI integration. We will continue to expand AI applications across our operations to enhance global supply chain visibility, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen our manufacturing competitiveness through data-driven innovation."

The sourcing takeaway

For buyers sourcing from ShinWon, the deployment signals tighter cost traceability per style and faster issue resolution in production. For competing manufacturers, it sets a benchmark: the standardised-data-first sequence — ERP consolidation before AI — is becoming the baseline playbook for mid-sized apparel suppliers pursuing AI-driven forecasting and trade-document automation.
