Three C-suite posts still open: chief brand officer, chief communications officer and chief technology officer
COO remit consolidates eight functions previously distributed across supply chain, commercial and sustainability leads
Joseph Godsey, formerly chief growth officer at Walmart Canada, will join Lululemon as chief operating officer on 26 October 2026, taking direct oversight of sourcing, production, sustainability and allocations as the athleisure group restructures its senior leadership.
The newly created COO seat absorbs the supply-chain portfolio of Ted Dagnese, chief supply chain officer, who will depart on 6 November 2026 alongside Nikki Neuburger, chief brand and product activation officer. Both executives will support a handover through the transition, Lululemon said.
What changes at the top?
Godsey inherits a mandate that pulls sourcing, production, commercialisation, go-to-market, fulfilment, planning, allocations and sustainability under one operating leader. Lululemon said the consolidation is designed to connect product and brand priorities with execution across the value chain and lift speed to market.
Godsey previously led growth at Walmart Canada. He will report to CEO Heidi O'Neill, a former Nike executive named to the role earlier this year.
Who else is moving?
Maggie Gauger joins from Athleta, where she was president and CEO, to become president and chief product officer, another newly created role effective 26 October 2026. She spent more than 20 years at Nike, including as vice-president and general manager of its North America women's business. Gauger will oversee design, merchandising, footwear, product innovation and materials science, with existing merchandising and design leadership reporting to her.
Chief financial officer Meghan Frank will temporarily take on added oversight of the brand and technology functions while Lululemon continues to recruit permanent chiefs for brand, communications and technology. The company has also opened a search for a chief strategy officer.
André Maestrini remains president and chief commercial officer; Shannon Higginson continues as chief legal and compliance officer; and Susan Gelinas stays in the chief people and culture seat. All four will sit on the restructured senior leadership team.
Why it matters for sourcing
The departure of a dedicated chief supply chain officer and the absorption of that remit into the COO function signals a tighter link between vendor strategy and commercial planning. Godsey's combined portfolio means decisions on factory allocation, lead times and sustainability commitments now route through a single operator rather than a stand-alone supply chain lead.
Sustainability is explicitly listed among his responsibilities, placing the company's compliance and traceability work inside operations rather than as a separate C-suite seat.
O'Neill framed the reshuffle as a competitiveness play. "Lululemon is a rare, extraordinary brand, but we have work to do to build a stronger and more competitive company," she said. "We are establishing a deeply experienced leadership team that will work in a more coordinated manner, aligned around the strategy and execution that delivers the most impact for our guests, our communities, and our business."
"That starts with putting product, design, and innovation at the centre of how we operate, with the focus and accountability to create a stronger pipeline of differentiated product to raise the bar for our guests across every touchpoint, in stores and online," O'Neill added.
What still needs filling?
Three C-suite seats remain open: chief brand officer, chief communications officer and chief technology officer. The company has not committed to a date for filling any of them. Lululemon has also opened a search for a chief strategy officer.
The moves come as founder and former CEO Chip Wilson publicly questioned the board's recent "brand-eroding choices" when O'Neill's appointment was announced earlier this year.
For sourcing teams tracking the Vancouver-headquartered retailer, the immediate question is how Godsey will rebalance the supply-chain function in his first 100 days and how the merged COO structure will shape the pace of sustainability, sourcing and allocation decisions that were previously split across the C-suite.
