  1. Functional Fabric Fair Fall 2026 runs 26–28 October at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, with 330+ certified sustainable suppliers.

  2. Nearly 20 Expert Talks sessions cover EU Digital Product Passport requirements, bio-based materials, polyester circularity and AI-assisted prototyping.

  3. Day 0 OIA Catalyst Conference (26 Oct, paid registration) is sponsored by Gore-Tex Brand (title) and Hyosung TNC (Platinum).

Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days has confirmed 26–28 October for its Fall 2026 edition at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, with more than 330 certified sustainable suppliers on the show floor and a near-20-session Expert Talks programme aimed squarely at sourcing and compliance teams.

The three-day format opens with the Day 0 OIA Catalyst Conference on 26 October, developed with the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA). Gore-Tex Brand is title sponsor; Hyosung TNC holds Platinum sponsorship. Two days of sourcing sessions and Expert Talks follow on 27–28 October.

The programme targets designers, product developers and material decision-makers across the performance, outdoor and sports apparel tiers. Its content calendar reaches as far forward as Fall 2027/28 buying seasons, with opening-day subjects including Summer 2028 and Winter 2028/29 performance colour trends.

Regulatory content dominates the technical agenda. European Digital Product Passport requirements, textile data, garment take-back legislation and trade uncertainty all have dedicated sessions — a signal that DPP readiness is now a live compliance item for US-linked supply chains exporting into the EU, not a distant obligation.

Bio-based materials form the Focus Topic for the Fall 2026 fair, and the programme treats them with the scrutiny the category requires. A panel led by Hyosung TNC — with Malvina Hoxha of Hyosung TNC and Ajay Chadha of REI Co-op among participants — will map the roadmap to bio-based adoption. Organisers note that biomass-derived innovations can cut dependence on fossil feedstocks while improving material transparency, but the programme also confronts scalability, feedstock sourcing, traceability, certification and supply-chain transparency.

Polyester circularity and microplastic fibre mitigation receive a dedicated session featuring representatives from Parkdale Advanced Materials, Intrinsic Advanced Materials and Cyclone North America. Antimicrobial technologies and artificial intelligence-assisted prototyping complete the opening-day technical line-up.

Day two shifts to process and strategy: cross-functional collaboration in sustainable product development, renewable materials, trade uncertainty, take-back legislation and what AI means for smaller brands. Confirmed speakers come from Nike, Hyosung TNC, Hohenstein, the Outdoor Industry Association, the Circular Textile Alliance and the Sustainable Fashion Forum. Stewart Sheppard, founder and principal consultant of S2 Consulting, returns as host.

"Every edition of Functional Fabric Fair education is built from the ground up to meet the moment," said Steve McCullough, Event Vice President, Functional Fabric Fair. He said the programme reflects the rapidly changing regulatory, compliance and sourcing environment while encouraging peer-to-peer exchange between professionals facing similar challenges.

The Day 0 OIA Catalyst Conference, built in response to attendee feedback, will offer sustainability guidance, regulatory updates, case studies and interactive breakout sessions for outdoor and performance sector compliance teams. It requires separate paid registration.

On the exhibition side, the 330-plus certified sustainable suppliers will present functional fabrics, finishes, trims, accessories and material innovations. Special features include the Cellulose, Wool and Trend Forums, the Bodywear Collective, the Innovation Zone and the Future Fabrics Expo Innovation Hub, with dedicated networking areas in the Sustainability Lounge and Italian Bar.

The fair remains trade-only, free to verified designers, product developers, purchasing agents, material managers and students in the outdoor, performance and lifestyle apparel sectors.

For sourcing and compliance leads, the agenda sets two near-term decisions. First, material teams buying for Fall 2027/28 need a position on bio-based feedstocks — and the certification and traceability evidence to back any claim. Second, anyone in the EU export chain should use the DPP and take-back sessions to benchmark internal readiness before mandates tighten.
